Money Saving Tips In The Studio

When starting a recording project, it is important for you to make sure that you do not go over your budget.  It is very easy to spend a lot money in the studio by racking up hours.  One of the biggest ways to save money in the studio, is to reduce the amount of hours spent recording.  The reduction of recording time comes from being prepared.  The more prepared you are, the less time you will spend recording.

Finalize The Music Before Going Into The Recording Studio

When you enter a recording session, the song should be complete.  The verses, chorus, and bridge should be finalized.  The arrangement should also be complete.  You do not want to be making arrangement decisions and experimenting with ideas while the clock is running.  They will take up a significant amount of time and that will translate into dollars.

Practice, Practice, Practice

You should practice often.  Even when you finally get it right, you will need to practice some more.  Many people do not realize that the real skill comes when you are reinforcing what you are doing.  When you are trying to figuring your part during a practice session, and making mistakes, you are still learning.  Because your muscles have the ability to memorize, that will be memorizing everything you do, including your mistakes.  Many people stop practicing when they get it right.  You should practice until you can't get it wrong.  Practice so that you are extremely comfortable with.  It should come naturally.  Click here for tips on practicing.

Record Your Rehearsals

You should record all of your rehearsals.  While playing, you will miss many things that you will catch listening to a recorded rehearsal.  During the playback, you will be able to make decisions that will improve your playing.  You do not have to go out and spend a lot of money, a tape recorder would be sufficient.  You can even use a digital recorder or a smart phone to capture the rehearsal.
